Attar's Spear Toothed Dragon

Another dragon reference sheet!  Here's another new species: Attar’s spear-toothed dragon, Mesoplodon attarii. 
This species is a part of the joint project I'm working on alongside TheWyvernAndTheFox, as if we didn't have enough dragons already!  Attar's are sort of a mashup of several cetaceans, but beaked whales were the strongest influence and the color scheme was based off the southern right whale dolphin.

Kali proposed the idea of naming the species after a notable dracologist in our story, not unlike how some real life species are named for scientists and other people.  I loved this idea so we took it and ran with it!  These guys are named for Jahan Attar, a senior dragon researcher.  We even carried that into the scientific name for the species because we’re colossal nerds.

The females of this species are very dominant as well!  The males will use various techniques for attempting to woo them.  However, this is a highly polygamous species in which the females tend to form bonds with each other first before allowing males to enter the picture.  The clutches are fairly small - they often consist of 1-3 eggs - and whelps are raised by females and males together as a group.  Very large, open families in this species!

I missed creating dragons so much, especially for the Two Worlds project.  There will be more to come, for sure.
